Frequently Asked Questions
Have a question about your car’s next service, warranty requirements, or how we operate at Grange Auto Works? We believe in total transparency not just on the workshop floor, but in how we communicate with our customers.
Below, Aviranga and Tharindu have answered the most common questions we receive from drivers across Smeaton Grange, Camden, Narellan, Gregory Hills, and the wider Macarthur region. If you have a specific question not covered here, feel free to give us a call on (02) 9062 3222 or drop into our Bluett Drive workshop.

Servicing & Repairs
Does getting my car serviced at Grange Auto Works void my new car warranty?
No, absolutely not. Under Australian Consumer Law (ACL), you have the legal right to choose any qualified independent workshop to service your new vehicle without voiding the statutory manufacturer warranty.
At Grange Auto Works, our qualified mechanics carry out every logbook service strictly according to the manufacturer’s schedule, fit genuine or certified OEM-equivalent parts, use manufacturer-approved lubricants, and officially validate your service handbook (or digital service record). Your warranty remains 100% protected.
What is the difference between a standard basic service and a logbook service?
A basic minor service generally covers an engine oil and filter change along with a high-level safety check. A logbook service, by contrast, is a comprehensive schedule established by your vehicle manufacturer based on time (e.g., every 12 months) or kilometres travelled (e.g., every 10,000 km, 60,000 km, or 100,000 km).
A logbook service includes specific scheduled replacements such as brake fluid flushes, spark plugs, cabin air filters, fuel filters, and timing belts that keep your vehicle operating efficiently and maintain factory warranty compliance.
What is a NSW Pink Slip (eSafety Check), and how long is it valid?
A Pink Slip (officially known as an eSafety check) is an annual safety inspection required by Transport for NSW for vehicles older than 5 years prior to registration renewal. The inspection verifies that core safety components such as brakes, tyres, steering, suspension, lights, seatbelts, and body condition meet roadworthy standards.
Once our authorised inspection station passes your vehicle, we submit the report electronically directly to Transport for NSW so you can renew your rego online immediately. A Pink Slip report is valid for 6 months from the date of issue.
Do you service European vehicles as well as everyday cars and trade utes?
Yes, we welcome all makes and models side by side. While daily drivers (Toyota, Hyundai, Mazda, Ford, and Kia) make up a significant portion of our workshop, we have invested heavily in dealer-grade diagnostic scan tools and specialised equipment specifically for European and prestige marques.
We regularly handle scheduled factory maintenance, condition-based servicing, and complex electronic fault finding for Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Jaguar, Land Rover, Range Rover, and Audi.
What quality of parts and fluids do you use?
We use genuine manufacturer parts or high-grade OEM-equivalent (Original Equipment Manufacturer) components that meet or exceed factory specifications.
We never fit cheap, uncertified aftermarket parts that could compromise your vehicle’s reliability, safety, or resale value. All engine oils, transmission fluids, and coolants used strictly meet the precise grade and viscosity required by your vehicle’s manufacturer.
What should I do if my Check Engine light or warning light comes on?
If an amber warning light illuminates on your dashboard, your car’s engine control unit (ECU) has logged a specific diagnostic fault code. You should book a diagnostic scan as soon as practical to prevent potential engine or catalytic converter damage.
If a warning light begins flashing, or a red warning light (such as oil pressure or engine temperature) appears, pull over safely, turn off the engine, and avoid driving to prevent severe mechanical failure.
Bookings & Pricing
How do your quotes work, and will there be unexpected costs on my invoice?
We operate on a strict no-surprises pricing policy. Before turning a single bolt or replacing a part, we inspect your vehicle and provide a clear, upfront quote detailing labour and parts.
If we uncover an unforeseen issue while working on your car (such as heavily worn brake pads or a leaking water pump), we will pause work, contact you immediately to explain what we found, provide a revised quote, and only proceed once we have your explicit approval.
Do I need to book in advance, or do you accept walk-ins?
Walk-ins are always welcome. If you have an urgent safety concern, an unexpected warning light, a flat tyre, or need a quick Pink Slip, you can drive straight into our workshop at Unit 14, 23–25 Bluett Drive in Smeaton Grange.
For routine scheduled servicing or major mechanical repairs, booking a few days ahead ensures we reserve a dedicated service bay and have all required filters and fluids on hand for a fast turnaround.
How do I make a booking?
You can book your vehicle in three easy ways:
- Phone: Call our workshop directly on (02) 9062 3222 during business hours to speak with a technician.
- In-Person: Drop by our reception desk on Bluett Drive.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept EFTPOS, Visa, MasterCard, and direct bank transfers. Detailed itemised tax invoices are provided with every service, breaking down all parts, fluids, and labour.
Pick-Up & Drop-Off
How does your vehicle pick-up and drop-off service work?
We know our customers are busy whether you are juggling family commitments, running a small business, or working long hours. To keep vehicle maintenance stress-free, we offer a local vehicle pick-up and drop-off service for an additional fee.
We can collect your vehicle from your home or workplace in the morning, complete the agreed servicing and inspections at our workshop, and return your vehicle to you once the work is finished.
